A two days complete shutdown in Srinagar, Kashmir
SRINAGAR NEWS :- In view of shutdown called by resistance leaders to support Article 35A, restrictions have been imposed in down town areas of Srinagar Kashmir on Thursday. A complete shutdown is being observed in the valley and some parts of Pir Panchal area on the call given by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) which is comprised of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The shutdown has been called for August 30 and 31 for protection of Article 35A. All shops, business establishments and Schools are closed in the valley while as transport is off the roads. Police sources said that restrictions have been imposed in areas under the jurisdiction of Nowhatta, Khanyar, Rainawari, MR Gunj and Safa Kadal police stations. Partial restrictions will remain in force in areas under Kralkhud and Maisuma police stations on Thursday and Friday, they added. “The restrictions are purely preventive in nature and have been imposed to maintain law and order,” police sources further said. The forces have been deployed in areas that have been placed under restrictions, along with other vulnerable places in the city and other parts of the Valley. A bunch of petitions had challenged Article 35A in the Supreme Court. A three-judge bench of the apex court is scheduled to hear the case on Friday.
